The Madrid regional government has filed a police complaint against Rayo Vallecano for preventing technical staff from accessing Estadio de Vallecas on Wednesday to carry out urgent maintenance works.
The regional Culture and Sports Department under Isabel Díaz Ayuso has named club vice president José María Sardá de Abreu and the head of legal services for refusing to allow access. The works, which began at 9:00 this Wednesday, follow the precautionary suspension of the concession after an audit identified safety risks.
Gardening staff were unable to enter the pitch to maintain the turf, while electricians and plumbers worked in adjacent buildings assigned to sports federations. Department sources described the club's refusal as a delaying tactic.
President Ayuso and councillor Mariano de Paco have reiterated that ending the concession aims to ensure people's safety. Rayo Vallecano must find an alternative venue for its first home match on 20 August against Deportivo Alavés.
