MLB Pipeline selects 2025 all-rookie team

MLB Pipeline has announced its picks for the 2025 All-Rookie First and Second Teams, highlighting standout performances from the season's newcomers. Eight players from the 2024 Draft class reached the Majors quickly, contributing to team successes and postseason moments. Oakland Athletics first baseman Nick Kurtz led the class with impressive power numbers.

The 2025 MLB season featured numerous rookie contributions, with first-year players making immediate impacts across the league. According to MLB Pipeline, the All-Rookie First Team includes catchers, infielders, outfielders, a designated hitter, two starting pitchers, and one reliever who excelled in their debut campaigns.

First Team Highlights

At catcher, Drake Baldwin of the Atlanta Braves posted a .274/.341/.469 slash line with 19 home runs in 124 games, earning 3.1 fWAR and serving as a bright spot in a challenging year for the team.

Nick Kurtz, the Athletics' first baseman and fourth overall pick from 2024, dominated with a .619 slugging percentage, 1.002 OPS, 36 home runs, 86 RBIs, 63 walks, 64 extra-base hits, and 260 total bases in 117 games after debuting on April 23. His 4.6 fWAR ranked second among all MLB first basemen, and his 170 WRC+ placed third league-wide among hitters with at least 400 plate appearances.

Luke Keaschall of the Twins hit .302/.382/.445 with four home runs and 14 steals in 49 games at second base, despite missing three months due to a fractured right forearm; his 134 wRC+ was above average.

Caleb Durbin, acquired by the Brewers from the Yankees, batted .256/.334/.387 with 11 home runs and 18 steals in 136 games at third base.

Jacob Wilson, the Athletics' shortstop and 2023 sixth overall pick, achieved a .311 average—third in MLB—with a 7.5% strikeout rate and 13 home runs.

Outfielders included Roman Anthony (Red Sox, .292/.396/.463, eight HR in 71 G, 140+ WRC+, six Outs Above Average), Isaac Collins (Brewers, .263/.368/.411, nine HR, 16 SB, 2.6 fWAR in 130 G, five OAA), and Jakob Marsee (Marlins, .292/.363/.478, five HR, 14 SB in 55 G).

Colson Montgomery (White Sox DH) hit 21 home runs in 71 games with a .529 slugging percentage.

Starting pitchers: Cade Horton (Cubs, 2.67 ERA, 97 K in 118 IP) and Noah Cameron (Royals, 2.99 ERA in 138.1 IP). Reliever Matt Svanson (Cardinals) had a 1.94 ERA and 0.88 WHIP in 60.1 innings.

The Brewers, who had baseball's best record, benefited from rookies like Collins and Durbin. Postseason standouts included Cam Schlittler (Yankees) and Trey Yesavage (Blue Jays).
