Monitor makers preview advanced displays for 2026

Leading panel manufacturers including LG, Samsung and AU Optronics are preparing innovative LED and mini LED monitors for 2026, featuring higher resolutions, refresh rates and dimming zones. The upcoming models target both gaming and professional users with enhancements like 5K panels and dual-mode capabilities.

As 2026 approaches, the monitor industry is set for significant advancements in display technology, driven by major players such as LG, Samsung, AU Optronics, Innolux, BOE and Sharp. These companies are focusing on LED and mini LED panels that promise improved contrast, brightness and performance for gaming and professional applications.

Key upcoming models include the LG 27GM950B, a 27-inch 5K 165Hz IPS gaming monitor with 2304 dimming zones, 1440p 330Hz dual mode and HDR-1000 certification reaching 1250 nits peak brightness. Similarly, Samsung is introducing the G90XH, a 32-inch 6K 165Hz IPS monitor with glasses-free 3D support and 3K 330Hz dual mode, alongside the G80HS 32-inch 6K 165Hz IPS and G80HF 27-inch 5K 180Hz IPS models, all featuring advanced dual-mode options and HDR10+ Gaming.

AU Optronics contributes with panels like the fast IPS in the KTC M27P6 27-inch 4K 160Hz monitor, offering 1152-zone mini LED FALD and 1080p 320Hz dual mode. Other highlights encompass the Apple Studio Display 2026 with a 5K 120Hz panel and VRR support, powered by a new A19 SoC, and ASUS's ProArt PA32KCX 32-inch 8K IPS with 4032-zone mini LED, 1200 nits peak brightness and Thunderbolt 4 connectivity, expected in October 2025 for around $8,000.

These developments emphasize trends toward higher pixel densities, such as 218 PPI in the ASUS XG27JCG 27-inch 5K 180Hz IPS, and extensive local dimming for better HDR performance. While mass production dates may shift, the innovations aim to deliver smoother gameplay and precise color accuracy, with many models incorporating ergonomic stands, USB-C power delivery up to 98W and VRR support.
