Despite attracting attention from Real Madrid and Liverpool as both clubs seek defensive reinforcements this summer, the 26-year-old center-half appears set to stay in the Bundesliga. A report in Bild indicates he has agreed terms on a new contract running until 2031, with an annual salary increase to around €14 million including bonuses. Schlotterbeck's agent, Matthias Sammer, told Sky: “I am absolutely convinced he will stay in Dortmund.” The player is expected to feature in Julian Nagelsmann’s Germany squad for the World Cup in the United States, Canada, and Mexico this summer. The agreement reportedly features an exit clause activating next summer at €60 million, offering potential for clubs like Madrid and Liverpool to pursue him later.
