Nicole attacked with knife at secondary school in Tláhuac

Nicole, a 12-year-old girl, was attacked with a knife by classmates and their relatives inside Secundaria 324 Alfonso Caso in Tláhuac, Mexico City. The incident took place on October 13 and is part of ongoing bullying she has endured since fifth grade in primary school. The teen was hospitalized for a week after school officials ignored her plight.

Nicole, a 12-year-old second-year secondary student at Escuela 324 Alfonso Caso in Mexico City's Tláhuac borough, recounted how on October 13 she was beaten by classmates and relatives of one of them. The bullying, driven by her physical appearance, clothing style, and wearing pirate shoes, started in fifth grade of primary school and has grown more frequent.

“They left me on the sidewalk, they hurt me inside the school and showed me a cutter with which they threatened to kill me,” Nicole told NMás in an interview. Her older sister heard screams inside the school that Friday before dismissal and called the police. Nicole's mother, Flor, questioned the presence of the aggressors' mothers: “Several women whom my daughter now identifies as the mothers of the attacking girls, so I wonder what the relatives were doing there inside the school with a knife.”

School directors removed Nicole from the premises while she was bleeding and at risk, so a police officer assisted her and took her to a hospital, where she stayed for a week. Days earlier, Nicole had sought help from teachers and directors, but they ignored her. Her mother has started procedures to transfer her to another school and is considering moving due to received threats.

Lawyer Eduardo Llanos, representing Nicole, accused the school of fabricating false documents, including forging her signature on a statement where she allegedly admitted to the aggression. “The school is even making fake documentation by falsifying Nicole's signature on a document where she accepted that she aggressed. A complaint was filed for assaults, there is one for attempted homicide against the director because he took the bleeding girl, on the verge of dying, out to the street,” Llanos explained.

Nicole demanded justice and sent a message to President Claudia Sheinbaum: “A few days ago the president was touched and violated. If it was hard for her and it bothered her, I know she would put herself in my place and understand that I was also violated, it was horrible. I would like to ask for her support so that justice is done for me and they can help me.”
