Plane crashes in Kwale with 11 aboard, company says

An air travel company has confirmed that the plane which crashed in Kwale County this week carried 10 passengers and one crew member. The incident occurred on the morning of October 28, 2025, as the aircraft flew from Diani to Kichwa Tembo. There were no survivors.

The aircraft, registered as 5Y-CCA, crashed in Kwale County on the morning of Tuesday, October 28, 2025, while en route from Diani Airport to Kichwa Tembo in the Maasai Mara. The operating company stated that it carried 10 passengers and one crew member, all foreigners: eight Hungarians, two Germans, and one Kenyan crew. This contradicts earlier reports of 12 passengers, as confirmed by the Kenya Civil Aviation Authority (KCAA).

In an official statement, the company said, “We are profoundly saddened to report that, according to preliminary information, there were 10 passengers and one crew member on board. Sadly, there are no survivors. Our hearts and prayers are with all those affected by this tragic event.” The company has shifted focus to supporting affected families through a Family Assistance Team providing counseling, logistical aid, and other services.

An emergency response team has been activated, and the airline is cooperating with authorities investigating the cause. The KCAA noted that several government agencies are at the crash site to determine the accident's cause and immediate impact. Images from the site show plane parts scattered across the area, with reports indicating the aircraft burst into flames on impact, complicating rescue efforts due to the remote location and adverse weather.

Further details on the victims remain unavailable as the investigation continues.
