City police officers arrested three men in the Recoleta and Belgrano neighborhoods following chases for stolen backpacks. Among the recovered items were 150 official packs of 2026 FIFA World Cup stickers, valued at around 700,000 pesos.
The operation began when motorized police officers received an alert about a backpack stolen by two men fleeing on a motorcycle without a license plate. The pursuit ended at the intersection of Pueyrredón Avenue and Beruti, where one suspect tried to escape on foot and threw the bag between parked cars.
The detainees, aged 31 and 32, had criminal records that included violations at mass events and drug possession. Two cell phones and the motorcycle used were also seized during the procedure.
In parallel, cameras from the Urban Monitoring Center allowed officers to locate a third suspect in Belgrano. This man, also 31 years old and with 14 prior cases including aggravated robbery and culpable homicide, had broken a truck window to steal another backpack before being intercepted on Ombúes street.
