President Prabowo Subianto shared his views on the bilateral meeting between US President Donald Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping during the APEC 2025 Summit in Gyeongju, South Korea. The statement was made after a bilateral meeting with New Zealand Prime Minister Christopher Luxon on Friday local time.
"Alhamdulillah ketemu ya Presiden Trump dari Amerika jumpa dengan Presiden Xi Jinping. Saya dengar juga suasananya positif lah dan ini yang kita harapkan, karena ini akan sangat mempengaruhi ketenangan dunia dan ekonomi dunia sangat tergantung ketenangan," said Prabowo in a video statement witnessed in Jakarta.
According to Prabowo, the current global situation is full of uncertainties, from tariff wars to fragile geopolitics. Leaders' meetings at the APEC 2025 Summit aim to lower global tensions. "Kita berusaha untuk menurunkan suhu, meredakan," he said. He added, "On the whole suasananya bagus, pertemuan APEC tadi."
The Trump-Xi meeting occurred in Busan on Thursday (30/10) for 1 hour and 40 minutes. Prior to that, Chinese and US delegations held trade talks in Kuala Lumpur on October 25-26, 2025. Xi Jinping invited the US to be a partner and friend for shared prosperity, aligning with Trump's "Make America Great Again" vision. Xi affirmed commitments to strengthen bilateral foundations and create a conducive atmosphere.
Xi noted Trump's enthusiasm to resolve regional issues. "China juga sudah mendorong perundingan damai untuk menyelesaikan berbagai masalah utama. Dunia saat ini dihadapkan pada banyak masalah berat," said Xi. The meeting was part of Xi's visit to South Korea for the 32nd APEC Summit.
