Rural corridor development transforms lifestyles in Gondar

Ethiopia's rural corridor development program is expanding into countryside areas and is already altering daily life for residents in Gondar city administration.

Residents Ato Dese Sisay and Ato Yohannes Baze of Sayna Sabiya Kebele in Gondar said the project delivered roads, electricity, water and health facilities. These changes allow local farmers to pursue development work using modern methods.

Gondar city administration first deputy mayor Chalachew Dagne stated that five model farmers received comfortable houses in the first round. The homes serve as examples for other areas to replicate.

Deputy Prime Minister Temesgen Tiruneh inaugurated the houses in mid-March and opened them for use. The project combines local materials with modern engineering and the traditional Debiyat cooperation culture to build contemporary homes while directly involving farmers.
