Smashing Pumpkins headlined Lollapalooza in Chicago on July 31 with surprise guests Olivia Rodrigo and Yungblud. The band performed two songs from its 1990s catalog during the set.
Billy Corgan brought out Yungblud less than an hour after the British rocker finished his own festival performance. Yungblud sang the closing track "Luna" from the 1993 album Siamese Dream while Corgan played guitar.
Rodrigo followed as the next guest. Corgan introduced her as "a very, very special guest" before she performed "Thirty-Three" from the 1995 album Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness, with the stage lit in red.
Yungblud told the crowd, "This is a fucking dream come true." The appearances capped a week that also included aftershow performances with actor Barry Williams and former bassist Melissa Auf der Maur.
The band is scheduled to launch its Rats in the Cage tour on Sept. 30 in Columbus, Ohio.
