Spain were held to a 1-1 draw by Iraq in their penultimate World Cup warm-up match on June 4 in A Coruna. Ferran Torres gave the European champions the lead before Merchas Doski equalised with a long-range strike.
Spain dominated possession but struggled to create clear chances after the break. Lamine Yamal missed the match through injury and watched from the sidelines along with Nico Williams. Torres opened the scoring in the 15th minute after weaving past two defenders. Iraq responded before half-time when Doski spotted the goalkeeper off his line and curled a shot into the net from the left. Spain made changes at half-time but failed to regain the lead. Iraq defended resolutely and limited the hosts to few opportunities despite their dominance. The result leaves Spain preparing for their World Cup opener against Cape Verde on June 15.
