Tens of thousands sing Christmas carols at BVB stadium

Over 70,000 people gathered at Dortmund's Signal-Iduna-Park for the BVB Christmas sing-along on the first Sunday of Advent. Accompanied by a choir and band, they sang classics like 'O du Fröhliche'. Celebrities including Yvonne Catterfeld added to the festive atmosphere.

The event took place on Sunday afternoon, turning the Westfalenstadion—which holds up to 81,365 spectators for football matches—into a festive venue. Participants were supported by the BVB choir and a band to join in singing Christmas classics. Guests included singer Yvonne Catterfeld, who performed on 'Leise rieselt der Schnee' and other tracks, along with the music duo Blumengarten and singer Alexander Klaws.

Tickets for the sing-along concert sold out in less than an hour. In addition to traditional songs like 'Alle Jahre wieder', BVB anthems echoed through the stadium, including 'Leuchte auf, mein Stern Borussia' and the hymn 'You'll Never Walk Alone'.

Following the Christmas sing-along, an incident occurred at Signal-Iduna-Park. Due to a technical fault on an overcrowded regional train, passengers opened the doors and jumped onto the tracks to walk to the nearest station. One person sustained a minor injury, police reported.
