Tesla alters FSD transfer rules for low-price Cybertruck

Tesla revised its Full Self-Driving transfer policy for the new All-Wheel-Drive Cybertruck trim priced at $59,000. The change has prompted some customers to cancel their orders. Deliveries of the model are scheduled to begin soon.

Tesla updated the terms for the new Cybertruck AWD after initially indicating that buyers could transfer existing FSD purchases. The revised language states that orders placed after March 31, 2026, no longer qualify for the transfer. Customers who ordered the vehicle earlier this year received notifications from delivery advisors outlining their options. These include proceeding without the transfer, upgrading to a higher trim, or canceling the order for a refund of the $250 fee. At least one buyer publicly stated they canceled their reservation after seeing the policy change. The customer noted that their February order confirmation had shown eligibility for the transfer. Reservation holders have begun receiving VINs ahead of initial deliveries. Tesla now offers an FSD subscription at $99 per month as the remaining option for the affected trim.
