Tesla is adding features to its smartphone app to support the Optimus robot and other upcoming products. Code in the latest iOS app version reveals plans for home data sharing and robot authentication.
A code analysis of Tesla iOS app version 4.59.0 shows new capabilities tied to the 2026 Summer Update. One addition lets owners upload custom vehicle wraps wirelessly with a real-time 3D preview.
The app also includes a consent screen for collecting video and spatial data from homes. This data would help train Optimus in everyday tasks such as vacuuming and dishwashing.
Additional code references a Bluetooth Low Energy authentication system for robots. The system is intended for Optimus and may extend to Cybercab vehicles.
Other planned features include an emergency stop gesture for Cybercab passengers and dynamic routing for roadside assistance.
