Oleksandra Oliynykova criticized fellow Ukrainian WTA players for attending Daria Kasatkina’s wedding in Greece. She urged them to redirect their energy toward fundraising for Ukrainian Marines instead.
Oliynykova posted on Instagram after seeing videos of the players dancing at the seaside ceremony. She wrote that they appeared to have plenty of energy and suggested using it to raise the remaining $5,000 for a vehicle needed by the Ukrainian Marines.
In a follow-up message, she asked whether the players avoided helping because their Russian friends would not understand. Several Ukrainian players joined Russian and other WTA guests at the event.
Kasatkina, who switched her allegiance to Australia last year, married Natalia Zabiiako. The couple’s engagement was announced in 2025 after their relationship became public in 2022.
Oliynykova has previously spoken out on issues involving Russian and Belarusian players and shared images of war damage in Ukraine during a press conference at Roland Garros.
