Veracruz Governor Rocío Nahle García announced the renegotiation of two inherited credits with BANOBRAS, transferred to BBVA under better terms, generating savings of 155 million pesos and freeing over 18 billion pesos in participations until 2040.
Rocío Nahle García, governor of Veracruz, announced that the state renegotiated two inherited credits from BANOBRAS and transferred them to BBVA under more favorable terms. This move, along with the optimization of three other credits, will generate estimated savings of 155 million pesos and free at least 18.382 billion pesos in federal participations until 2040.
The governor explained that these steps are part of a permanent debt reduction program. "My purpose is that, by 2030, at the end of my term, we deliver a much better state than we received," she stated. Additionally, four bank financings worth 3.658 billion pesos have been liquidated, and participations from three more credits worth 13.126 billion pesos have been freed.
So far this year, around 1.9 billion pesos have been allocated to debt payments. The Secretariat of Finance and Planning reported that bank debt fell from 47.775 billion to 43.373 billion pesos, with the number of credits dropping from 21 to 17—a nearly 10% reduction in just over a year.
Nahle García emphasized that lower debt levels improve resource availability. "When a state is highly indebted, the federation withholds participations; that limits us," she said. These actions aim to strengthen finances for investment in growth and welfare.
