Véronique Nichanian leaves Hermès after 37 years

Véronique Nichanian, artistic director of Hermès's men's universe since 1988, has announced her departure after 37 years with the house. Her final show will take place next January. In an exclusive interview with Le Figaro, she reveals the reasons for her decision.

Véronique Nichanian, this discreet Frenchwoman but ultra-respected in the luxury industry, has marked Hermès's men's universe for thirty-seven years. In position since 1988 as artistic director, she imposed a unique signature: luxurious materials, ingenious cuts, technical experiments, and relaxed elegance. Her influence on contemporary wardrobes is no less than the stylistic revolutions of Giorgio Armani or Hedi Slimane.

All good things must come to an end; her next show, the seventy-sixth, will be held in January during the men's fashion week in Paris. It will be her last. Hermès will announce the name of her successor in the coming days, of which nothing is known for now.

In an exclusive interview with Le Figaro, Nichanian shares the reasons for her departure and the perspective she has on these decades spent serving men – an absolute exception in the sector. A page turns for the brand and for the men's wardrobe she has deeply influenced.
