Woman arrested on suspicion of attempted murder in Utsunomiya

Police in Utsunomiya, Tochigi Prefecture, have arrested a woman in her 40s on suspicion of attempted murder after she slashed a 29-year-old drugstore employee with a fruit knife on Friday evening.

The incident occurred at around 8 p.m. on Friday. The employee called 110 and reported that a customer had entered the checkout area and slashed her chin.

Other employees subdued the woman, who was arrested at the scene by responding officers.

During questioning, the woman denied the allegations and said she did not wish to speak about the incident, police said.
