A 26-year-old woman in Memphis has been charged with aggravated assault after she allegedly shot a tow truck worker during a vehicle repossession early Wednesday morning.
Iysha Chapman is accused of firing a shot that struck one of the workers in the shoulder on Treadwell Street. Authorities say she had been told to retrieve her belongings from the 2015 Lincoln MKC but refused to return the keys when asked.
According to the affidavit, Chapman stated she missed a payment on Monday and believed she had a five-day grace period. She told investigators she tried to drive away but was pushed back, then retrieved a firearm from her purse and fired.
The two workers left the scene and called 911. Police later seized a teal .380 Glock from Chapman. She remains in jail on a $150,000 bond and is expected to appear in court on Monday.
