Anne Keya was stabbed multiple times by her estranged boyfriend in Nairobi's Kilimani area on Thursday evening. Her family said the suspect had harassed her for months following their meeting in Kirinyaga. The suspect is now held at Kilimani Police Station.
Anne Keya was killed at her workplace in Kilimani on May 14 after the suspect confronted her with a knife. A colleague who witnessed the attack said she tried to push Keya away but heard a scream as the stabbing occurred. Keya collapsed moments later and died at the scene.
CCTV footage showed the suspect walking away calmly after the assault. Keya's family stated the couple's relationship had involved repeated threats and violence since they met in Kirinyaga. The mother noted the suspect had previously wanted to kill her daughter in Kerugoya.
The suspect remains in custody at Kilimani Police Station where detectives have recovered the murder weapon. A postmortem examination is scheduled for Monday May 18 with arraignment also set for that day.
