World Bank pledges support for Egypt's digital economy and AI

The World Bank Group has pledged support for Egypt's digital economy and artificial intelligence efforts during talks in Cairo. Officials discussed broadband expansion and the second National AI Strategy.

Minister of Communications and Information Technology Raafat Hindi met with Paschal Donohoe, Managing Director and Head of Knowledge Experts at the World Bank Group. The discussions focused on cooperation in digital transformation and AI adoption.

Donohoe said Egypt has laid strong foundations for digital transformation. He added that the World Bank is committed to supporting Egypt in adapting global expertise to build a competitive digital economy that creates jobs.

Hindi outlined plans to accelerate digital transformation, upgrade infrastructure, and attract investment in the ICT sector. Officials also reviewed projects under the Decent Life Initiative and the launch of the second version of the National AI Strategy.

The World Bank delegation included Country Director Stephane Guimbert and other specialists. They visited the Valeo AI development centre in the Smart Village as part of the programme.
