With the MLB trade deadline two weeks away, the New York Yankees are seeking a right-handed hitting catcher and bullpen help. The team is weighing several prospects as potential trade bait while protecting its top assets.
New York needs reinforcements as it prepares for the stretch run. General manager Brian Cashman has made bullpen additions an annual priority.
Prospects George Lombard Jr. and Carlos Lagrange are off the table. Potential chips include shortstop Dax Kilby, right-hander Elmer Rodríguez, outfielders Jasson Domínguez and Spencer Jones.
Domínguez has slashed .229/.265/.396 in 39 games this season after earlier stints. Jones hit .233/.317/.370 in 30 games before returning to Triple-A, where he has posted a .951 OPS.
Other names under consideration are left-handers Henry Lalane and Allen Facundo. The Yankees would require a significant return to part with Kilby.
