Amazon is holding preliminary internal discussions about reviving the reality show The Apprentice on Prime Video. The Wall Street Journal reports that Donald Trump Jr., son of the show's original host, is being considered to take the hosting role. The talks remain in early stages with no formal approach to the Trump family yet.
Preliminary talks are underway at Amazon to bring back The Apprentice, the reality competition series originally hosted by President Donald Trump on NBC. According to The Wall Street Journal, Prime Video is eyeing Donald Trump Jr., a former advisor on the show, as potential host. An Amazon spokesman told the Journal, “Since our acquisition of MGM, we have had preliminary internal discussions about what's next for 'The Apprentice' as a property.” The project is not in active development, and no host is attached at this point. Amazon has not yet contacted the Trump family. The company first considered a reboot in early 2025, coinciding with Trump's second-term inauguration and the greenlighting of a documentary about First Lady Melania Trump. The Apprentice premiered on NBC in January 2004 and ran for 15 seasons until 2017. Its early seasons offered contestants a $250,000 contract to work for Trump, while later celebrity editions focused on charity fundraising. NBC ended its relationship with Trump in 2015 following his comments on Mexican immigrants, with Arnold Schwarzenegger hosting the final season.
