Pittsburgh Steelers analyst Nick Shook believes the team will keep veteran backup Mason Rudolph on the roster ahead of training camp. Shook spoke on the NFL Daily show Monday about the quarterback battle with rookie Will Howard.
The Steelers have Aaron Rodgers as their starting quarterback and third-round pick Drew Allar locked into the roster. This leaves Rudolph and Howard competing for one backup spot.
Shook said he has a hard time believing Rudolph will be cut. He noted that another team could claim Rudolph off the practice squad given the limited quality of backup options across the NFL.
Shook added that turning to Howard or Allar in an emergency would put the team in a difficult position. Training camp is set to begin soon and Shook expects Rudolph to secure his roster spot once it starts.
