Chilean singer-songwriter Angelo Pierattini, lead vocalist of Weichafe, has been discharged from medical care following a car accident that left him in a coma. The musician described his recovery as a miracle and thanked supporters. His national tour has been indefinitely suspended.
Angelo Pierattini, the acclaimed Chilean singer-songwriter and lead vocalist of the band Weichafe, announced on Friday that he has been medically discharged following a serious car accident on December 29. The incident occurred around 1 p.m. on Ruta 68, when his vehicle was rear-ended while heading to Santiago. According to his family, Pierattini suffered a head fracture causing a hematoma, requiring induced coma to reduce swelling, along with four broken ribs and lung complications.
In a handwritten letter shared on his Instagram account, accompanied by photos, Pierattini detailed: “On the 29th I was hit, I was serious, in a coma, intubated for several days… it was a miracle to get out of there. Your prayers, acts of faith, spirituality, deep love and the expertise of the medical staff at Mutual de Seguridad have me discharged and in full rehabilitation process.” He expressed special thanks to his friends, mother, father, brother, and above all, his wife Begoña Olavarría.
A few days ago, Olavarría noted that doctors described Pierattini's recovery as “surprising, almost miraculous,” due to his healthy lifestyle and inner strength. Following the accident, his national tour, which had already begun and was set to include cities like Concepción, Chillán, Antofagasta, and Temuco, has been indefinitely suspended to focus on his rehabilitation.
Pierattini ended his message optimistically: “I am happy, fighting day by day to meet again soon on some magical stage. A thousand thanks for that beautiful connection, your comments, contributions and this life that crossed us for the simple fact of loving music, I love you!!!!”.
