Argentine economy grew 2.3% in first quarter

Gross domestic product grew 2.3% in the first quarter compared with the same period in 2025, according to INDEC data. Mining, agriculture and Vaca Muerta drove the result.

The National Institute of Statistics and Censuses released the figure on June 23. President Javier Milei and Finance Minister Luis Caputo celebrated the number on X.

Caputo posted the result and Milei replied to the post. Both highlighted that it is a new historical record.

The data show an improvement in economic activity compared with the first quarter of 2025.

The Dane reported that Colombia's GDP rose 2.2% in the first quarter of 2026, below the 2.5% recorded a year earlier. Growth was driven mainly by public spending and household consumption, while sectors such as construction and agriculture posted declines.
