BMW appoints Dorothea von Boxberg as new personnel director

Car maker BMW is bringing Dorothea von Boxberg from Brussels Airlines to its board. She will take over the personnel department on September 1.

The supervisory board appointed von Boxberg as labor director. She succeeds Ilka Horstmeier, who is leaving the post by mutual agreement.

Von Boxberg currently leads Brussels Airlines as CEO. She previously held several management positions at Lufthansa, most recently as chairwoman and CFO of the cargo division.

Supervisory board chairman Nicolas Peter highlighted her experience with transformation processes and her external perspective on the automotive industry. Her technical background fits very well with the BMW Group, Peter said.

Horstmeier's departure comes as little surprise to insiders. Her contract ran until next year. The parties agreed on an earlier exit.
