Former president Jair Bolsonaro is about to complete 90 days in humanitarian house arrest, with Minister Alexandre de Moraes set to decide whether to maintain the measure or order a return to prison.
Bolsonaro has been serving his sentence at home since March 27 to recover from bronchopneumonia, following a conviction to 27 years and three months in prison for a coup plot. On Thursday, June 25, the 90-day period ends and Moraes will decide on continuing house arrest.
During the period, Bolsonaro received visits from authorized family members, except son Eduardo, who is in the United States. He remained banned from using a cell phone and complied with the rules, according to reports from the Federal District Military Police. His health remains stable, with controlled blood pressure, although medication causes drowsiness and instability.
A new investigation by the Federal District Civil Police is examining a pistol registered in Bolsonaro's name found with a GSI agent. The defense stated the weapon was handed over for defect verification. Bolsonaro's hearing is scheduled for June 24 by videoconference.
