Charli XCX's team has dismissed suggestions from Sky Ferreira that parts of the Wuthering Heights soundtrack album incorporate her old demos without proper credit. Ferreira, credited on one track, hinted at additional unacknowledged contributions via Instagram comments. The team insists all credits were finalized through a thorough review process.
Sky Ferreira sparked the dispute in Instagram exchanges with a fan account, @skyferrori, which shared a deleted screenshot from an alleged industry insider. The insider claimed the intro to 'Chains of Love' came from Ferreira's 'Ancient Idols' demo and that 'Alters' was based on her 2015 demo. Ferreira responded that the insider was 'wrong' but 'close,' adding, 'It was definitely more than an intro. I have proof of everything with dates.' She also wrote, 'your favorite artist records my old songs.' Ferreira is officially credited as a writer and vocalist on 'Eyes of the World.' Charli XCX's team, in a statement shared with Billboard, emphasized that proper accreditation was followed. 'All credits were finalized and formally approved by the appropriate parties prior to the album’s release,' they said. The process involved managers, legal representatives, artists, and producers reviewing fragments from earlier sessions, with the full album played in advance and credits agreed in writing. The team noted Charli's history as a songwriter and her commitment to fair crediting. Ferreira revealed she signed with a new label in 2025 after exiting Capitol Records in late 2024. Meanwhile, Charli XCX's representatives confirmed she is finishing her eighth studio album, a follow-up to 2024's Brat, while filming a movie in Kyoto.
