Departments with the largest average household sizes were Vaupés at 3.70 people and Atlántico at 3.47. The top five also include Vichada, Guainía, and Magdalena. Putumayo had the smallest average at 2.32, followed by Cauca and Bogotá.

Biparental households accounted for 51.3%, slightly down from 2024. Monoparental stayed at 24.3%, single-person rose to 20.2%, and other types at 4.2%. La Guajira leads in monoparental at 30.0%, while Putumayo tops single-person at 34.1%.

Female-headed households held steady at 46.4%, matching 2024. "This stagnation is explained by urban areas, where female headship fell from 49.0% to 48.7%, while rural areas rose 0.6 points," DANE explained. La Guajira and Chocó exceed 50%, contrasting low rates in Amazonía Orinoquía.

On housing, 40.8% rent, followed by 38.1% owning outright or with mortgage. Others include permission-based occupancy (14.5%) and de facto occupants (4.1%).
