Colombia's oil production reached 740.812 barrels per day in first quarter

Colombia's National Hydrocarbons Agency (ANH) reported average oil production of 740.812 barrels per day (Bppd) in the first quarter of 2026. In March, it rose to 740.497 Bppd, up 5.573 Bppd from February. The gain stemmed mainly from recovery in the Meta field after resolving social blockades.

The ANH reported that crude oil production remained stable in the first quarter, averaging 740.812 Bppd, which is 3.15% above proven reserves of 718.168 Bppd and 91.74% of the profile for proven plus probable reserves of 807.519 Bppd.

March's increase tied to recovery in the Meta field's water injection after community agreements (+6.450 Bppd), new wells in Mateguafa (Casanare) (+1.926 Bppd), and two wells in Castilla Norte. Yet, water cuts in Arauca and Casanare, electrical issues in Meta, and natural decline in mature fields capped further gains.

"We are managing the assets with the utmost technical rigor to cushion the natural decline in reservoir pressure and ensure every cubic foot of gas produced reaches homes," the ANH stated.

February's output was 734.924 Bppd. For natural gas, the yearly average reached 693 Mpcd, or 92.25% of proven reserves at 751.21 Mpcd, with a 5 Mpcd rise in March amid recovery from technical issues.
