Connie Constance releases empowering new single 'The Offering'

Singer-songwriter Connie Constance has returned with her new single 'The Offering', an empowering track about female independence and self-acceptance. Co-written with Dan Rothman of London Grammar, SOHN, and Theo Hutchinson, the song features warm indie pop production and introspective lyrics. It marks her first major release since the 2022 album 'Miss Power'.

Song Details

'The Offering' explores themes of personal uncertainties, insecurities, strength, and unapologetic self-expression. Constance bares her experiences as a female artist over a textural indie pop backing with echoey vocals. The track begins intimately and builds to an eruption, emphasizing vulnerability and connection through shared struggles.

Constance shared insights on the song's creation: “This woman that I am, who comes with uncertainties, insecurities, strength, intellect sometimes, silliness more often, is my offering. I will not preserve myself for anyone other than my own desires.” She added, “Before words and sounds, I knew I wanted to create something that starts intimate and erupts. It’s about allowing myself to be loud, messy, soft, and unapologetically me.”

The song highlights changes women face at various life stages, aiming to provide a space for listeners to feel seen. “It’s about how talking about what we’re going through can bring us closer. Only we can choose the empathy, love, and peace that we share with each other,” Constance explained. “Women go through great changes at many stages of our lives, and each time feels just as mighty as the time before. I hope this song can be a space for listeners to feel seen and not alone.”

Background and Creation

The single was developed in London Grammar’s studio and Constance’s home in North London, with inspiration drawn from her walks in Queen’s Wood, Highgate. As a Watford native, Constance continues her indie sound following her debut 'English Rose' in 2019 and sophomore album 'Miss Power' in 2022.

NME's review of 'Miss Power' praised it as “Woven from a great many creative ideas... through Constance’s skilful bird’s eye view, it instead twists the key in the pandora’s box of her potential, re-introducing her unique take on the world. If this is her coming of age, who knows what powers she might unleash next?”

More recently, Constance featured on Kae Tempest’s July release 'Self Titled'. 'The Offering' is available to stream now.
