Connor Heyward settles into fullback role with Raiders

Connor Heyward has embraced his move to the Las Vegas Raiders and a more traditional fullback position after four seasons with the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Heyward discussed the change during an appearance on SiriusXM NFL Radio earlier this week. He said the transition is going well and that he is learning the West Coast offense.

“I feel like the transition is going well. Obviously new to me, playing strictly fullback,” Heyward said. “I feel like I’m picking up on it. It’s the West Coast [offense], but it’s something that you have to know on the back of your hand and be able to play fast.”

Heyward added that he has moved on from his time in Pittsburgh. “I’ve embraced my role. I’ve embraced the people here. I’ve embraced the city here. I’ve moved on to this chapter,” he said.

The Steelers drafted Riley Nowakowski to help fill the void left by Heyward’s departure.
