Digha Jagannath Dham attracts 1 crore visitors in under a year

The Jagannath Dham in Digha, West Bengal, has recorded one crore visitors in less than a year. The temple was inaugurated on April 30, 2025. Kakoli Jana from Kolkata was symbolically honored as the 1,00,00,000th visitor.

The Jagannath Dham in Digha crossed the milestone of one crore visitors on Sunday, achieved in less than a year since its inauguration. Radha Raman Das, vice-president of ISKCON, stated, “The arrival of the 1,00,00,000th devotee is not merely a numerical achievement; it is a sacred affirmation of Lord Jagannath’s universal embrace.”

Kakoli Jana, daughter of Surajit Jana from Tollygunge, Kolkata, was symbolically identified and honored as the 1,00,00,000th visitor. The family received special darshan, Mahaprasad, and sacred garlands from temple authorities. The Jana family said, “We feel immensely blessed and honoured. Being part of such a historic moment at Jagannath Dham, Digha is an experience we will cherish for a lifetime. It truly feels like the grace of Lord Jagannath.”

The temple has become a vibrant international center of devotion, drawing ISKCON members from over 150 countries across Europe, the Americas, Africa, Australia, and Asia. Das, also the chief priest and trustee, noted that the temple blends sacred tradition with modern infrastructure. He added, “The result is a unique global spiritual confluence where Bengali devotion meets international Vaishnava culture.”

This development has transformed Digha from a seasonal seaside town into a year-round economic powerhouse, boosting hotels, restaurants, and lodges. Das expressed gratitude to the state leadership, saying, “I offer my heartfelt thanks to the Hon’ble Chief Minister, Sushri Mamata Banerjee, whose far-sighted vision made this temple possible.”
