Disciplinary tribunal sanctions Javier Correa with four matches

The ANFP Disciplinary Tribunal's First Chamber punished the Colo Colo striker for his statements against referee Nicolás Gamboa following the loss to Huachipato.

Javier Correa received a four-match suspension to be served in the Liga de Primera, since Colo Colo was eliminated from the Copa de la Liga. The sanction is based on article 68 letter a of the ANFP Code of Procedures and Penalties for offenses against a refereeing authority.

The ruling passed by four votes to two. Exequiel Segall, president of the tribunal, stated that Correa offended the referee and that the statement was issued after a period of reflection. Correa publicly apologized, which served as a mitigating factor.

Nicolás Monckeberg, director of Blanco y Negro, criticized the decision. “What happened to Javier Correa is not an exemplary punishment, it is a selective punishment”, he said on his X account. Segall explained that previous cases involving Marcelo Díaz and Daniel Garnero were not reported, so the tribunal did not act.
