Dragon Age creator says series unlikely to continue under EA

Dragon Age creator David Gaider believes the fantasy RPG series is likely finished under Electronic Arts ownership after the commercial disappointment of Dragon Age: The Veilguard.

Gaider, who left BioWare in 2016, shared his views in an interview with PC Gamer. He noted that past Dragon Age games often exceeded internal sales projections during his tenure, but the 2024 release fell short of expectations.

The former writer expressed openness to returning if the franchise were offered back to him. He said he would aim for a darker tone and pursue ideas that could upset some fans.

BioWare is now focused on Mass Effect 5 with a reduced team after many staff were reassigned following the Veilguard launch. The project was first teased in 2021.
