João Henrique Alves Quintana, 27, was arrested early on April 4 after driving a Porsche Boxster drunk, without a license, and at high speed, causing a head-on crash on Avenida Conde de Frontin in Vila Matilde, eastern São Paulo. He collided with a Fiat Siena carrying two salty snack delivery workers, injuring four people including himself and a passenger, according to the Public Security Secretariat.
The incident occurred early on April 4 when Quintana lost control of the Porsche Boxster, veered into the opposite lane, and struck a Fiat Siena head-on. Security camera footage captured the Porsche nearly hitting a passing truck. Witnesses described the driving as erratic and high-speed.
The Fiat Siena carried two workers, aged 26 and 28, who had just completed salty snack deliveries and were heading for more. The passenger sustained facial and body abrasions, remaining conscious, and was taken to Hospital Ermelino Matarazzo. The driver suffered severe internal bleeding, requiring blood transfusions, and was placed in an induced coma at Hospital das Clínicas.
Quintana and his 27-year-old passenger, who had head injuries, were extricated from the wreckage and admitted to Hospital do Tatuapé under police guard. Quintana tested positive for alcohol at 0.46 mg/L on the breathalyzer—well over the legal limit—and lacked a driver's license. The pair had visited a bar in the area prior to the crash. The Porsche, owned by a third party, was seized for forensic analysis. Firefighters and SAMU responded to the scene.
The case has been filed at the 31st Police District (Vila Carrão) with charges including attempted homicide, culpable bodily injury while driving a motor vehicle, and driving without a license. No further updates on victim conditions were available.
