Eetu Koivistoinen's tenure with Luleå Hockey ended after the team reached the playoffs via the eighth-finals but fell in the semifinals to Skellefteå. In an interview with NSD, Koivistoinen disclosed that he suffered a broken left pinky finger in the opening semifinal game. Despite the injury, he refused to leave the ice, driven by adrenaline during the match's second overtime period when the team doctor offered a pain injection, which he declined as unnecessary. He gritted through the final four games of the series, enduring pain especially on off days and occasional numbness in his hand during play. Equipment managers provided extra protection for his hand, and he received injections before match days to dull the pain. Koivistoinen also mentioned a minor foot issue from blocking a shot, but it paled in comparison to the finger injury. He plans to get an X-ray on the hand soon, hoping surgery will not be required. After two years with Luleå, Koivistoinen is moving on to the next step in his career.
