Egypt's industry minister discusses partnerships with EBRD, Türkiye, Nigeria and Morocco

Minister of Industry Khaled Hashem held meetings with international officials on the sidelines of the 35th Annual Meeting and Business Forum of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development in Riga, Latvia.

Khaled Hashem met the Board of Directors of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development to discuss collaboration in energy, water, vocational training and support for small and medium-sized enterprises. He also met Osman Çelik, Deputy Minister of Treasury and Finance of Türkiye, to explore increased Turkish investments in export-oriented projects and joint manufacturing in sectors such as textiles, automotive components and renewable energy equipment. Hashem held talks with Aminu Umar-Sadiq, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the Nigeria Sovereign Investment Authority, on investment cooperation and a potential trade corridor under the African Continental Free Trade Area. In a separate meeting, Hashem discussed industrial cooperation with Mohamed Tarek Bchir, Director of Treasury and External Financing at Morocco’s Ministry of Economy and Finance, covering automotive manufacturing, food processing and textiles.
