Meron Aragaw Erkihun has been named to the 2026 Courtroom Mail 100, a prestigious annual list of influential lawyers. The recognition highlights her contributions amid Ethiopia's changing judicial environment.
From 2017, during her time as executive director of EWLA, she led initiatives to safeguard women's economic, political, social, and legal rights. These included free legal aid, public awareness campaigns, capacity building, research, and policy advocacy. EWLA, founded in 1995 by women lawyers, seeks a society where Ethiopian women enjoy equal rights as men under constitutional and international standards.
She now serves as Gender, Youth, and Inclusion Advisor at Engender Health. Her work addresses online gender-based violence and legal shortcomings impacting women's safety. She has engaged in national dialogues with groups like the Ethiopian Women’s Development Organization (EWDO) and the Strategic Initiative for Women in the Horn of Africa (SIHA) to advocate for reforms.
This inclusion underscores her influence on legal reforms, women's empowerment, and human rights in Ethiopia.
