This afternoon, Senapred activated a red alert for wildfires in Los Ángeles, in the Biobío Region. According to the National Forestry Corporation (Conaf), the “Munilque” fire started near inhabited areas and has preliminarily affected 2.5 hectares of vegetation. Due to the imminent threat, Senapred requested the evacuation of the La Isla sector via SAE messaging, where at least 20 homes were at risk.
In an alert message, Senapred stated: “¡ATENCIÓN! #SENAPRED por incendio forestal, solicita evacuar sector La Isla, comuna de Los Ángeles, Región del Biobío. Para reforzar la evacuación en terreno por parte de los organismos técnicos, #SENAPRED activó mensajería #SAE. RECUERDA actuar con calma y acatar las…”. The firefighting efforts involve five brigades and two Conaf technicians, supported by four aircraft from the corporation.
The red alert declaration enables the mobilization of all available resources from Conaf, Firefighters, and the National System for Prevention and Response to Disasters (Senapred) to control the situation, given its extent and severity. No injuries or damage to homes have been reported so far, but authorities emphasize the need for preventive evacuation to avoid greater risks in this area near the city.
This fire adds to other blazes in the region, though the main focus is containing the “Munilque” to protect residents.
