Germie Bernard credits Aaron Rodgers for early mentorship

Pittsburgh Steelers rookie wide receiver Germie Bernard said quarterback Aaron Rodgers has been actively mentoring him to help speed up his development. The second-round draft pick spoke at his youth camp in Huntsville, Alabama.

Bernard described Rodgers as focused on teaching him the nuances of the game and preparing him for possible playing time in 2026. “He sees that I have the potential to play, and so he’s pouring into me as much as I can,” Bernard said.

The Steelers traded up to select Bernard, who has experience running routes both inside and outside. Rodgers has a reputation for demanding precision in the West Coast offense, including exact timing on routes and pre-snap adjustments.

Bernard said he is trying to absorb as much information as possible from the veteran quarterback. The team is counting on him to contribute sooner than some of Rodgers’ previous rookie receivers did.
