Government awards new national TDT license to Siete consortium

The Council of Ministers approved on Tuesday the award of a new digital terrestrial television license to the Siete consortium after a public tender.

The Ministry for Digital Transformation, led by Óscar López, formalized the award to the Servicios Integrados de Entretenimiento Televisivo group. This consortium, backed by investors linked to Prisa and advised by José Miguel Contreras, prevailed over the bid from Mediaset España.

The new channel must begin broadcasting before the end of November 2026 and holds a 15-year renewable license. Its annual operating budget is estimated at 20 to 25 million euros, with programming focused on talk shows and debates.

The consortium includes industrial partner José Luis Manzano, a Telefé shareholder, contributing around 25% of the capital while keeping majority control with Spanish investors. The channel will use DVB-T2 technology for ultra high definition broadcasts.
