The State Department for Children Services has refuted circulating claims that June cash transfers for orphans and vulnerable children would be delayed.
The department issued a notice distancing itself from a fake press release attributed to Principal Secretary Carren Agengo. The statement had claimed payments were held due to verification backlogs and would resume only after updates.
Officials warned the public against unverified information on the CT-OVC programme. Concerns had grown after the government released KSh2.4 billion on June 5 for other social protection groups but not OVC beneficiaries.
Beneficiaries noted the last CT-OVC payment occurred on March 31. The clarification addresses wider reports of payment delays across public programmes.
