Prime Minister Narendra Modi and French President Emmanuel Macron held bilateral talks in Nice on June 14, resulting in the adoption of an Innovation Roadmap 2030 and a new Dialogue on Economic Security.
During the meeting at the Bharat Innovates event, the leaders agreed to establish a Joint India-France AI Working Group and noted the signing of 19 agreements in the innovation sector. They also called for early implementation of the India-EU Free Trade Agreement and set up a High-Level Mechanism to double bilateral trade within five years.
The two sides focused on strengthening supply chain resilience in critical minerals under the new economic security dialogue. Discussions covered cooperation in small and medium enterprises, rail, aviation, space, and civil nuclear energy, including ongoing talks on the Jaitapur nuclear power plant.
Modi thanked Macron for visa-free transit arrangements for Indians at French airports and invited French universities to open campuses in India. Following the talks, Modi departed for Slovakia, arriving in Bratislava on June 15 for the next leg of his visit.
