The Indian Air Force has begun transporting question papers for the NEET-UG 2026 re-examination scheduled for June 21. Aircraft and helicopters are being used to deliver materials to more than 20 locations across India. The move is part of enhanced security after the original exam was cancelled due to a paper leak.
Transportation of the confidential papers started on June 16 and is set to continue through June 17. Mi-17 helicopters are supporting deliveries to remote areas after initial transport by IAF aircraft. A trial landing was carried out at the Tirunelveli Armed Reserve Ground in Tamil Nadu.
CRPF and CISF personnel are securing the chain of custody at every stage. The Defence Ministry, Home Ministry, Postal Department and state governments are coordinating under the Ministry of Education. Nearly five lakh security personnel are expected to be deployed on exam day.
The original NEET-UG test was held on May 3 for over 22 lakh candidates. It was cancelled on May 12 following allegations of an organised paper leak. The June 21 re-examination includes additional measures such as real-time tracking and isolation of paper setters.
