Jamie xx has released a remix of Robyn's comeback track 'Dopamine,' marking their second collaboration. The remix transforms the original's energetic dance beat with skittering grooves and enhanced synths. This project follows their work together on 'Life' from Jamie xx's 2024 album In Waves.
Remix Details
The remix, released on December 3, 2025, via Young, reworks Robyn's 'Dopamine,' her first original solo single since the 2018 album Honey. Produced with longtime collaborator Klas Åhlund, the original track explores the duality of intense emotions as biological processes. Jamie xx infuses it with U.K. jungle-inspired skittering grooves, expanding the four-on-the-floor kicks and adding strobe-like synth flourishes.
Jamie xx described the process in a press release: “I had a blast making this remix; the original song is so great it was mega fun to get to play around with it. Thanks, Robyn! Looking forward to playing it on some dance floors v soon.” This is his first remix in three years, following his 2022 rework of Oliver Sim’s “GMT” and the 2017 version of the xx’s “On Hold.”
Background and Collaborations
Robyn released 'Dopamine' in November 2025, seven years after Honey. She reflected on the song: “The doubleness of ‘Dopamine’ is having an emotion that is super real, super strong, intense, enjoyable or painful, and at the same time knowing that this is just a biological process in my body — and then not to choose religion or science. To just accept that they’re there together and to be able to go in between.”
The pair previously collaborated on “Life,” featured on Jamie xx's album In Waves. Robyn has been active in collaborations since Honey, including tracks with SG Lewis, Channel Tres, Jónsi, Smile, the Lonely Island, Beck, Lorde, Charli XCX, and Yung Lean. She recently performed at the Fonda Theatre in Los Angeles and has a New Year's Eve show scheduled at the Paramount in Brooklyn. No new album from Robyn has been confirmed.
