British showjumper John Whitaker continued his return to competition after hernia surgery in late February with a grand prix victory at Chard followed by further appearances at Chepstow.
Whitaker, 70, secured his first win back at the CSI2* grand prix in Chard, Somerset, riding 18-year-old Equine America Unick Du Francport. The victory came at only his second show after the operation, following earlier international appearances in Hong Kong and Gothenburg. He later competed at Chepstow in the West Country. His family has also been active on the circuit, with wife Clare and son Rob posting strong results at events in Italy, including Rob's grand prix win in Montefalco the previous week.
