La Salle's girls and boys teams claimed victory at the 2026 Rhode Island Interscholastic League Indoor Track and Field Championships held at Providence Career & Technical Academy. The girls scored 101 points to top North Kingstown by 43, while the boys amassed 137.5 points to beat Bishop Hendricken by 54. Standout performances included multiple gold medals for athletes like Thea Jackson and Jalen Moseley.
The championships took place on a Saturday in February 2026 at the Providence Career & Technical Academy in Providence, Rhode Island. In the girls' division, Mt. Hope senior Thea Jackson secured three gold medals, clearing 5 feet, 4 inches in the high jump, running 7.18 seconds in the 55 meters, and jumping 18 feet, 8.75 inches in the long jump. She placed third in the 55 hurdles. "The past couple years I’ve placed in my events, but it’s nice to get the firsts," Jackson said.
Exeter-West Greenwich's Nini Olawuyi won the 55 hurdles in 8.53 seconds. Moses Brown's Skyler Maxwell dominated the 600 meters with a time of 1:33.69 and anchored winning relays in the 4x200 (1:44.66) and 4x400 (4:07.81). Surprises included Cumberland's Anna Bianchi winning the 3,000 meters in 10:36.63, Chariho freshman Meriden Alge taking the 1,000 meters in 3:00.20, and Hope's Zariyah Brown claiming the 300 meters in 40.74. Prout's Julia Smith upset in the weight throw with 56 feet, 6.5 inches, and Ponaganset's Amber Shaw became the first official pole vault champion at 11 feet, 6 inches.
La Salle's Alyssa Parenteau won the 1,500 meters in 4:42.64, and North Kingstown took the 4x800 relay in 9:39.70. Tayla Schneider of North Kingstown won the shot put at 42 feet, 2.25 inches.
In the boys' division, La Salle's Jalen Moseley earned three golds: high jump at 6 feet, 6 inches, 55 hurdles in a record 7.45 seconds, and long jump at 23 feet, 11.75 inches. "I was a little nervous, but on the inside I just wanted to show everybody what I have," Moseley said. Garrett Giroux-Pezzullo set a facility record in the 300 meters with 34.55 seconds, and Judah Mullings won the inaugural pole vault at 12 feet, 6 inches.
Marshall Vernon of La Salle won the 3,000 meters in 8:28.38 despite an earlier injury. Bishop Hendricken's Colby Flynn took the 1,000 meters in 2:32.65, and David Hayes won the 1,500 meters in 4:01.46 after a disqualification. Barrington's Patrick Trainor set a meet record in the 55 meters at 6.37 seconds but suffered a hamstring injury. Woonsocket's Shamrock Thoun threw 83 feet, 1.75 inches in the weight for gold, and Smithfield's Kaeden Manni won the shot put at 52 feet. La Salle's relays won the 4x200 in 1:30.99 and 4x400 in 3:28.78, while Chariho claimed the 4x800 in 8:06.36.
