Malmö FF defeated FC Rosengård 1–0 in an entertaining Swedish top-flight derby at Malmö idrottsplats. Sara Kanutte headed in the winning goal after over an hour, despite Rosengård dominating play and creating the best chances. The match drew 2,294 spectators on a sunny day.
On a sunny May day, Malmö FF fought to victory in the derby against FC Rosengård. After over an hour, Izzy D’Aquila headed down the ball from Tuva Skoog’s cross, and Sara Kanutte slotted in the 1–0 goal. “We are not good today – we have luck,” Kanutte admitted afterwards.
FC Rosengård was the better team and had several hot chances. Tilde Björklund hit the inside of the post early, and Emma Petrovic cleared on the goal line. Remy Siemsen was close to scoring twice, but Petrovic blocked a shot from Ria Öling. Goalkeeper Zecira Musovic, formerly with Rosengård, praised the defense: “We weather the storm.”
Rosengård coach Joel Kjetselberg raged over the refereeing. “Izzy D’Aquila was offside on their goal and it’s a clear penalty when Courtney Nevin fouls Remy Siemsen,” he said. Columnist Max Wiman noted one penalty situation for Siemsen seemed clear, but another was dubious. Kanutte missed a late chance to seal it with a long-range shot.
The win was celebrated with fans, Kanutte leading the chants. “Derby and three points is awesome,” she said. Björklund stayed positive: “When it clicks, it will really click.”
